These earrings are handcrafted by the 'Warkhis', indigenous group from the 'Bajo Baudo' in Colombia. For them, the colors and symbols, are an expression of life, and tell stories about their identity.
The black color stands for the new moon and it is important because it is the day on which they can cut the plant's hearts to make them grow. And the red represents the Summer flower "Flor del río San Juan", 'Jirakmar', the river that brings them food and so many kinds of life.
